Rosa Parks

1913 - 2005
Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks is best remembered for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott, but her activism extended far beyond that single act of defiance. Beyond refusing to give up her seat to a white passenger, Parks was deeply involved in the grassroots efforts to improve the lives of African Americans. Working with the NAACP, she investigated and campaigned against racial injustices, particularly those involving false accusations and abuses against the black community. Her commitment to civil rights was matched by her involvement in local community services, where she sought to empower black individuals through education and political engagement. Parks’ quiet strength and unwavering resolve in the face of systemic oppression made her a symbol of the civil rights movement and a beacon for change in her community.
